Vapor cigarettes are becoming more and more popular these days as a nicotine delivery device. Many users have flocked to them because they love the taste and convenience of them, while others have picked up vapor cigarettes as a means to quit their smoking habit. As opposed to nicotine patches or gum, vapor cigarettes recreate the act of smoking a cigarette – putting it to your mouth, inhaling to your lungs, letting out a visible exhale.
If you’re not familiar with vapor cigarettes, here is a quick run-down of how they work. A vapor cigarette is made up of two parts, a battery and a cartridge, that screw together as shown in the photo below:The larger (white) piece is the battery and the other piece is the cartridge. The cartridge contains a liquid nicotine. To use a vapor cigarette, the e-smoker puts the vapor cig to their mouth and inhales through the mouthpiece (on the battery end of the cig). This inhalation triggers the battery to create a flow of nicotine vapor out of the cartridge. The vapor is then inhaled into the lungs much like a regular cigarette. On the other end of the vapor cig, an LED indicator lights up and gives off the appearance of a lit cigarette, simulating real smoking.
Some brands offer a different kind of battery called the “manual battery.” With the manual battery, instead of inhaling to get a pull of vapor, there is a button on the side of the battery that when pressed it starts the flow of vapor for you. All the user then needs to do is inhale the vapor that is created. V2 Cigs is probably the most prominent maker of manual batteries, which can be seen in the photo below:
How Long Do Vapor Cigarettes Last?
Each vapor cigarette cartridge lasts about as long as a pack and a half of regular tobacco cigarettes, and when they run empty (you’ll know it by getting a dry, metallic taste instead of a flavorful pull of vapor) you can simply unscrew the cartridge and toss it in the trash and replace it with a fresh cartridge. Batteries can be recharged (via a USB port, a wall outlet, car charger or portable charging case), and their battery life depends on usage.
So that’s a quick summary of how vapor cigarettes work — it’s just like a regular cigarette… just put it to your mouth and take a puff! (Or in some cases, press a button!). Feel free to leave a message in the comments if you have any questions or clarification.
